The One With A Crazy-Ass Accident
Should we have got in the cab that day?
Owing to the increasing traffic, the two-wheelers have nowadays become quite risky to drive as compared to the four-wheelers. The reason is simple. The two-wheelers are more prone to accidents causing fatal damages. Well, in my case, it proved just right one day. Though there weren’t any fatal injuries, I rather found myself in a state of complete humor. It was no humor for the other two though!
I was in my second year of college and quite nonchalant about my attendance. But the two of my best friends, Gaurav and Pranav weren’t, especially the latter one. Just the day before the happening, I went to stay with them to have a better understanding of a certain topic of mechanics and to have some fun too. We ended up sleeping quite late after all the fun and study.
From PG to College
We woke up quite late the next day. Although our first class was destined to start in half an hour, I was pretty unconcerned about it. I was destined to skip the morning class that day, only if I wasn’t with these guys.
Why so obstinate guys, let’s skip it and enjoy some sleep.
They were obstinate about attending the class, especially Pranav. And they couldn’t leave me there and just leave. “I have to play my best card here now”, I said to myself.
Attendance mathematics is the one thing an engineering student knows by heart. It is a prime skill that no resume mentions but is the most underrated skill of all. Using this skill, I did all the calculations and proved to them how skipping the morning class won’t affect their overall attendance and still surpass their minimum threshold to sit in exams.
I won, but partly.
Gaurav agreed with my opinion but Pranav was still dicey. Ultimately, we all had to get ready and leave for the class immediately. Now you see, we were already late and couldn’t afford to book a cab as it took time. Hence, all three of us pooled on a two-wheeler instead.
The Climax — When Mechanics failed us!
The story ahead can be regarded as one of the most hilarious and cherished moments I had in college with these guys. Although, it’s not quite the same feeling the other way around.
Violating all the traffic rules, we cruised to college pooling three on the two-wheeler ride. Pranav drove the vehicle, Gaurav being in the middle, and myself at the last. We had to keep track of any policeman to avoid any fines and at the same moment, reach the lecture hall on time. Now, as far as I remember, we were at a roundabout when we had to turn a little and take the second exit to stay on the route.
Mechanics suggest that when a moving body gets tilted concerning its point of contact with the ground, it can bear a certain amount of weight at a certain speed until it topples. We all know MotoGP races, don’t we?! How do they keep moving even on tilting at higher speeds?!
Well, he tilted the two-wheeler. I don’t remember the angle of tilt. Neither do I remember our combined weight. All I remember is we toppled.
Screeeeech…….Ouch!
Thankfully, it didn’t result in a fatal accident but the two of my friends were a little bit injured.
I have a habit of calming any situation down. So I kept saying, “Guys, it's okay, nothing has happened. No worries”. I didn’t know only I was not injured.
Days have gone by and I am still made responsible for causing injury to them. They keep on saying I bent over causing the ride to topple while I keep on explaining to them how that couldn’t have happened unless the road was wet.
Even today, we all laugh about that incident so much because it was the funniest crazy-ass accident that happened during those times. Although we still didn’t pool together on a vehicle after that. But if we even did, the driver will surely be changed.
What do you think made us topple that day?!
